Duties
NOTE: This is a part-time position (20 hours total). Benefits and time-off accrual will be prorated and based on your part-time work schedule.
This position is within the Nursing Service at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Medical Center/LSCVAMC in Cleveland, OH. In this position you will serve as a Hospital Escort assigned to Patient Care Services within Nursing Service. Your major duties include:
ALL POSITIONS are subject to rotating weekend and holidays.
DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test results is received.

This position is within the Nursing Service at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Medical Center/LSCVAMC in Cleveland, OH. In this position you will serve as a Hospital Escort assigned to Patient Care Services within Nursing Service. Your major duties include:
- Responsible for the safe transportation of Veterans within the LSCVAMC;
- Maintain constant observation of the patient at all times while performing in the role as a sitter;
- Interact with patient through conversation and engage patient through verbal communication;
- Observe patient and intervene if necessary to prevent physical injury or patient elopement;
- Operate a wheelchair, gurney, or cart for transporting patients;
- Ensure appropriate identification of patients prior to their transporting;
- Ensure transport equipment are in proper working condition prior to transporting patients;
- Observe patient during constant observation and transportation for signs of distress;
- Transport specimens, records, medications, patient support equipment to and from patient care areas;
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
