This position is located at Unaccompanied Housing, Naval Station Great Lakes, Great Lakes, IL.   Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Regular Full-Time Building Manager.  THE PRESIDENT HAS ORDERED A GOVERNMENT-WIDE HIRING FREEZE SUBJECT TO CERTAIN LIMITED EXCEPTIONS.  THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO THE HIRING FREEZE.  ALTHOUGH WE ARE MOVING FORWARD WITH THE CONSIDERATION OF CANDIDATES, WE WILL NOT MAKE A SELECTION FOR THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT UNLESS AND UNTIL THE POSITION IS NO LONGER SUBJECT TO THE HIRING FREEZE.

Duties

This position is located in the Bachelor Housing Department at Naval Station Great Lakes. Provides functions related to on-site building management. Perform inspections of vacant rooms and common areas daily checking for cleanliness and maintenance problems. Conducts other inspections with the Complex Manager,  Bachelor Housing Manager and others as needed. Acts as an escort when Public Works or contractors require access to occupied rooms. The incumbent performs various maintenance related actions associated with their assigned building. Initiates trouble calls and work requests for any maintenance problems. Performs minor maintenance actions (changing light bulbs, preventative maintenance on fire extinguishers, paint, replace air filters, etc.). Follows up on all corrective actions to ensure completion and satisfaction. Additionally, the incumbent is accountable for control of the furniture, fixtures, and equipment in their assigned buildings. Coordinates with front desk and/or staff and maintenance to ensure rooms are ready for occupancy. Ensures rooms not ready will receive whatever work is required. Provides input for short and long range planning. Clears snow from entryways, sidewalks, and parking lot as necessary. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Requires three years of work experience that demonstrates knowledge of basic principles, concepts, standards, regulations and administration related to maintenance operations. Professional knowledge of lodging organization. Must possess basic math and reading. Must be able to communicate clearly. Skilled in use of personal computer. In order to verify fitness for duty, a complete physical examination at a military facility may be required. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.  Subject to a favorable National Agency Check (NAC).  Obtain certification for maintenance operations and other requirements.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
